chess cake

mom's sister, laura, made this dessert for a bday party for aunt amy.  apparently, this cake was divine.  i haven't tasted it, but mom insists it deserves a spot on the blog...so it must be pretty good.  whoever makes it first, post a pic so we can all see!

chess cake
bottom layer:
1 box yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c butter

top layer:
1 box powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
8 oz cream cheese

preheat oven to 350 degrees.  mix first layer.  spread in greased 9x12 pan (should resemble cookie dough).  mix top layer and pour over first layer.  bake 35-40 minutes until golden brown.

cool and serve with whipped cream if desired.

  1. yum. not being a "fruit dessert" person (you may want to add that BEST SERVED WITH FRUIT AND CREAM!), this still looks like a must-try. i'll do it this weekend and report!
